Expressing yourself

showing your feeling

One of the problems with saying what you feel is finding the right words. Embarrassment at stating their feelings in pubic makes many people store up their anger or irritation inside them, so that when they do finally say something, it all comes out in an angry rush of words. It is far better to state your feelings clearly and calmly at the beginning, before a situation has developed so far that your anger and frustration lead you to say something far more aggressive than you intended- and something which is likely to be far less effective in remedying the situation.
The secret is to be polite but firm. Don't be afraid to tell people how you feel and don't suffer in silence if another person's behaviour is making you uncomfortable.
'Excuse me, I'm afraid this soup is cold. Would you bring me another bowl, please?'
